Chick policies
Payment in full is required to hold chicks up to 72 hours. If chicks are not picked up on agreed upon time, buyer is subject to a 25% restocking fee and chicks will be offered to the next buyer. Chicks are available for local pickup only (no shipping available).
We do not offer guarantees, replacements or refunds on chicks. By buying chicks, you are agreeing to receiving our chick care guide and are responsible for ensuring an adequate environment and temperature for your chicks. We HIGHLY recommend against heat plates as temperature is inconsistent. We have received many photos from customers in the past of chicks with burnt backs and wings from heat plate
Pullet policy
Our pullets are guaranteed to be hens. If you ever purchase a pullet from Fortin Farms (it does happen on rare occasion) that begins to crow, our Policy provides 90 days from date of purchase to exchange the rooster for a pullet of the same breed. If the same breed is not available, a breed of equal value will be substituted. If no birds are available to substitute for the cockerel, a bird will be provided as soon as we are able to. Photos of rooster must be sent to Fortin Farms to determine sex of bird purchased prior to exchange.
HATCHING EGG POLICY
As we all know, hatching eggs are a gamble. We do not guarantee hatch rates or viability. We hatch from our own pens weekly to ensure fertility. We are happy to guide you in hatching eggs (see our hatching egg guide for reference.) Because there are so many factors that could result in no growth, we do not guarantee eggs. Our guarantee is that you will receive eggs that are from pens testing for fertility often that are free from cracks/damage. Shipping eggs is known to lower hatch rates due to rough handling. We do everything in our power to label and protect eggs during shipping. If damage occurs to eggs during shipping, it is the buyers responsibility to file a claim with USPS. We do not offer refunds or replacement eggs. Shipping is offered in California only at this time.
